How
Bikeable is Your Community? How
Bikeable CAN it be?
 |
Introducing
the Bicycle-Friendly Community awards program, a program that
recognizes municipalities that actively support bicycling. Apply
online at:
www.bicyclefriendlycommunities.org.
|
Think about it. When
was the last time you rode a bike in your community or let your kids
ride theirs? What was it like? Were there bike lanes? Was the air clean?
Were drivers mindful of those on two wheels instead of four? Were they
sharing the road?
If you've been noticing problems in your community, it's time to start
talking solutions. Rate your neighborhood with our Bikeability
Checklist. Target areas of improvement. Get motivated by the success
stories from cities and communities who have implemented remarkable
bicycling safety and helmet safety programs and created morebikeable
streets. Learn how you can enlist the support of others and initiate
change in YOUR community. Then, measure your program success.
